Our Story
Piazza was born from a simple idea: what if dining out felt as warm, easy, and genuine as having dinner at a friend's house? That's exactly what Dani and Scott set out to create when they opened their doors on Oxford Avenue — and it's the spirit that guides everything we do.
We're proud to be a true community restaurant. We stay open late after high school sports games so teams and families can come celebrate their wins together. We serve the workers from local businesses and the surrounding manufacturing plants, the Emory & Henry students and faculty, and neighbors from across the region. Less than 10 minutes from Damascus, Saltville, Abingdon and other surrounding areas — we're closer than you think.
We do our very best to accommodate substitutions, and we take food allergies seriously — your safety and comfort matter to us. Gluten-free options are available, and our kitchen team is happy to talk through any dietary needs.
Our kitchen is built on scratch-made Italian food and honest American bar fare — nothing from a freezer bag, everything made with intention.
The Atmosphere
From the warmth of the fireplace in our dining room to the buzz of the full bar — Piazza was designed to be somewhere you actually want to stay a while. Warm hardwood floors, stained glass windows, and a historic tin ceiling set the scene.
Whether you're unwinding after work, celebrating with family, catching a game on one of our screens, or sharing a bottle of wine over house-made pasta — this place was built for all of it.
We pour 11 rotating beers on tap, maintain a thoughtful wine list, and our full bar is stocked for whatever the evening calls for.
The College Experience
The Wasps' Nest is our dedicated outdoor venue for Emory & Henry University life — an enormous covered deck with string lights, a full outdoor bar, and a large fenced backyard built for gathering. This is where campus comes alive after dark.
Karaoke nights, open mic performances, Greek life parties, and campus events all find their home here. If you're planning something for the E&H community, this is your space.
Note: The Wasps' Nest hosts college-focused events. The main Piazza dining room and bar remain a welcoming, relaxed community space for neighbors, families, and visitors any time we're open.
Events & Private Dining
Piazza is also home to Platter & Pour — Dani and Scott's first restaurant together, and the inspiration that brought everything here to life. Hosted in our intimate wine room just on the other side of the building, it's a quieter, more private world from the main dining room.
Think elegantly casual evenings: imported meats and artisan cheeses, thoughtfully curated wine tastings, and unique small-batch bourbon experiences — the kind of gathering where conversation slows down and every sip means something.
Whether it's a private event, a date night, a corporate dinner, or a celebration worth savoring, Platter & Pour is available for bookings. Call us to arrange your evening.
